An audio installation looking at the possibilities within sound and sculpture to synthesise our immediate environment and decompress spatial awareness. Situated on Morning Lane, a busy street in London, the gallery is transformed into a noise-cancelling chamber, filtering ambient traffic sounds through a phase-inversion process that incorporates water from St Ann’s Well in Malvern, Worcestershire. A central sculpture channels live street recordings through a microphone housed in a small plastic bottle, further filtered by the well water, which carries its own history of mineral-rich, restorative properties. The live recording is layered with additional samples from wells around the Malvern Hills, known for their historical use in therapeutic practices. The installation’s skeletal sound system, crafted from custom-made metal and cardboard casings, disperses audio ambisonically throughout the gallery space.
